Eastern Sierra Youth Conservation Corps

In an effort to assist Inyo County youth build brighter futures, IMACA offers a summer youth services program. IMACA helps young adults ages 16-18 acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to lead self-sufficient, adult lives.

The mission of the Eastern Sierra Youth Conservation Corps (ESYCC) is to provide an opportunity for youth and young adults to learn work skills; develop a work ethic; develop a sense of community responsibility; further their formal education; develop leadership skills; and achieve the self-esteem necessary to enter the workforce.

The ESYCC’s approach to employability teaches teamwork and cooperation by utilizing work projects that are beneficial to the community and the environment by creating an atmosphere where corps members have the chance to develop on an educational, professional, and personal level.

ESYCC employs young people to provide conservation services for contract sponsors. We also teach them a strong work ethic that they are required  to demonstrate on each project by showing up on time and ready to work, with all the tools needed to successfully complete the job. They are paid for a 4-day work week, and one day of environmental/science education.
